CHELSEA v LIVERPOOL MIN-BY-MIN
By Gareth Friel
FT: CHELSEA 1 LIVERPOOL 2
90 + 3 mins: Liverpool have won the Community Shield here at the Millenium Stadium. Over the piece, Liverpool were the better side, with Chelsea appearing disjointed. It is hard to read too much into this game as both sides made plenty of substitutions, but surely this is a real psychological boost for Liverpool.
90+2 mins: Chelsea have just under one minute to rescue this game.

83 mins: The Liverpool fans are in full voice, can Chelsea salvage something from this game now?
81 mins: Ferreira goes off for John Obi Mikel.
80 mins: GOAL - CROUCH. Liverpool could well have won the Community Shield. Crouch scored it but Bellamy did ever so well on the left-hand side. He got a bit of space, waited for the right moment and delivered a measured cross straight onto the head of Crouch who couldn't miss. 2-1 to Liverpool.
78 mins: Can either side find a winner in the remaining 12 minutes or will we see extra time?

69 mins: Bellamy is blocked by John Terry and Liverpool have a free-kick wide on the right-hand side but Aurelio floats in into the hands of Cudicini.

54 mins: Drogba gets in behind and attempts to cross it however it almost loops over the head of Reina and he has to make a save. He was almost caught out there.

51 mins: Liverpool looking to threaten again and Crouch looks like he is fouled by Geremi but the referee lets play go on.
49 mins: Good play by Garcia, he gets into space so well and sets up Zenden in a great position just inside the box but he makes a mess of it and drags his shot well wide. A terrific chance for the Dutchman.
48 mins: Good ball across the pitch from Lampard to Shevchenko and he has a shot on goal but it trundles through to Reina.
47 mins: Shevchenko races on to a long ball but is penalised for a foul on Jamie Carragher.
46 mins: Chelsea get the second half underway at the Millennium Stadium with the sides on level terms.
HT: CHELSEA 1 LIVERPOOL 1
45+1 mins: The half-time whistle goes and despite being the better side, Liverpool go in at the break on level terms. It has been a decent game so far, but Rafa Benitez will be frustrated his side have not held on to their lead. However, it was superb strike play by Shevchenko to level it up.
45 mins: There will be only one minute of added time.
43 mins: GOAL - SHEVCHENKO. Chelsea are level. Brilliantly timed run by the Ukrainian, he gets on to Lampard's through ball and there was never any doubt he would score, one-on-one with Reina. That's the reason they paid so much money for him.
41 mins: The ball comes back into the box and Crouch gets a foot to it. It loops up in the air and Cudicini has to scramble back to turn it over the bar. Almost number two for Liverpool.

31 mins: Sissoko overhits a cross, he looks to be playing a more forward role today.
29 mins: A lively first half an hour at the Millennium Stadium and Liverpool are in front and on the balance of play they deserve it. Chelsea have been poor while Liverpool have pressed the game really well.
27 mins: First good move by Chelsea, the ball finds it's way to Robben wide on the left but his cross is poor. Shevchenko and Didier Drogba combining really well there.
25 mins: It may just be a precaution, it is not clear, but Ballack is going off to be replaced by Salomon Kalou.
24 mins: It looked like he pulled a muscle but he has come back on and will try to play on.

22 mins: Ballack shoots from around 25 yards but gets underneath the ball and it goes well over the bar.
21 mins: Paulo Ferreira tries to pass the ball back to Cudicini under no pressure but he overhits it and Liverpool have a corner. Chelsea appear rattled here.
20 mins: Lampard shoots from it but it is an awful effort, a real waste.
19 mins: Zenden concedes a free-kick after fouling Ballack around 40 yards out left of centre.
17 mins: Now Michael Essien pushes Luis Garcia in the face and Chelsea are threatening to spoil this game with their petulance. He gets away with it, though.

10 mins: How will
Chelsea respond now? Liverpool have been much sharper in the opening stages.
9 mins: GOAL - RIISE. Great break by Liverpool. Riise runs almost the length of the pitch and shoots hopefully from around 30 yards and somehow it squirms past Carlo Cudicini and Liverpool have the lead. What a start but Cudicini really should have saved the shot.
8 mins: Shevchenko causes all sorts of problems at the back and Liverpool are forced to concede the first corner of the match.

1 min: Liverpool kick off the 2006 Community Shield here at the Millennium Stadium.
Pre-match: Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez springs a surprise by leaving captain Steven Gerrard and striker Craig Bellamy out of his starting line-up to face Chelsea in the Community Shield at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. The pair begin the match on the bench alongside Xabi Alonso and Sami Hyypia - meaning just five of his likely first-choice side start. Danish defender Daniel Agger comes in alongside stand-in captain Jamie Carragher, with Chile winger Mark Gonzalez on the left and Bolo Zenden moving inside to accompany Mohamed Sissoko. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho fields a much stronger line-up, with both his new star signings Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko starting, although goalkeeper Petr Cech is absent as he recovers from a shoulder injury.
